Lors de la préparation de notre randonnée sur Via-Alpina (c’est quoi Via-Alpina ?), nous avons bien entendu eu recours aux fiches techniques du site officiel, contenant de très nombreuses et précieuses informations.
Le parcours des premières étapes nous a montré quelques difficultés, tout particulièrement au niveau de l’hébergement (dates d’ouverture hors juillet/aout), ainsi que des dénivelés et distances qui ne tiennent pas forcément compte de la réalité du terrain (variations du profil, …), sans oublier une signalétique parfois plus que discrète (voir les étapes demandant une attention particulière).
D’autre part, notre parcours de Via-Alpina (tracé Rouge) ne suit pas toujours le parcours proposé par le site officiel, car nous avons préféré parfois effectuer des cheminements en altitude plutôt qu’en fond de vallée (Voir les étapes avec variantes).
Il est à signaler aussi que certaines parties d’étapes se déroulent sur des tronçons goudronnés, ou sur des pistes forestières ou d’alpages; heureusement, la plus grande partie se déroule sur des sentiers habituels.
Pour éviter certains tronçons goudronnés ou des sentiers proches des routes en fond de vallée, nous avons alors préféré utiliser les transports en commun.
Nous avons découpé le tracé rouge en plusieurs tronçons d’environ 10-15 jours avec 2 périodes de réalisation fin juin/début juillet et début septembre pour éviter les périodes chargées en juillet/aout.
Il est impératif de contacter chacun des hébergements (pour la plupart, leurs coordonnées sont disponibles sur le site officiel).
Certaines étapes nous paraissant courtes (en apparence), nous les avons regroupées 2 par 2.
De même nous avons modifié le point d’arrivée de certaines longues étapes par rapport aux propositions du site officiel.
